A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (formally known as a CRB check) is a criminal record check that looks at a person’s criminal history. We regularly work in schools and nursing homes so we have these checks carried out to reassure our customers and clients, that they are using a safe, responsible and suitable company that are able to work with vulnerable groups.

Licensed Waste Carriers
A Waste Carriers Licence is a necessary document for all businesses that transport and dispose of waste. Regulations are imposed by the environmental agency to reduce harm on the environment, by ensuring that all businesses are authorised to transport waste and that it is disposed of properly.
We regularly remove debris from customers’ property so it is very important to us that they’re aware we’re disposing of it safely.
Risk Assessments and Method Statements
We compile site specific risk assessments for every job we carry out and have method statements for all the services we offer.
Whether it’s a large commercial project or a small domestic clean, we’re happy to provide these on request.
IPAF
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide through safety initiatives and training programmes.
We hold a 1b, 3a and 3b license which certifies us to operate Mobile and static elevated work platforms (MEWPs) sometimes referred to as cherry pickers, scissor lifts and self-propelled booms.
With this accreditation our clients have peace of mind we can safely reach inaccessible areas both internally and externally for a range of cleaning services.
PASMA
PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association) is the international not-for-profit association for the mobile access tower industry.
Representing the interests of manufacturers, suppliers and users, it provides and oversees the industry standard training scheme and is a major publisher of safety-related knowledge, information and guidance.
All of our team are PASMA approved tower users meaning we’re competent at building, dismantling, altering, inspecting and moving mobile access towers safely and to industry regulations and standards.
City and Guilds Professional Softwashing
Company Director Nic is Chester’s first City & Guilds accredited softwash technician. Softwashing is a low pressure treatment to safely treat and remove organic matter from hard surfaces. Professional softwash technicians have expert training in health and safety, COSHH (Hierarchy of Control), label compliance, environmental responsibility, legislation and best practice in the Softwashing industry.
Abbey Window Cleaning is an authenticated Softwashing business and compliant with the benchmark standards of the global authority, on workplace excellence.
COSHH Awareness Certified
We’re certified in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.
Working at Height/Ladder Safety
Our team are all competent with working at height regulations and trained in ladder safety.
Fire Warden
We hold certification for the training of fire safety.
BSIF
BSIF (British Safety Industry Federation) is the UK’s leading body within the safety industry. Having successfully completed the Emergency Chemical & Oil Spill Management and Response course, we are trained for the safe storage, use and transport of dangerous substances in order to minimise the risk of a spill.
We can recognise hazards and threats that come with spills and carry the correct products for secure and effective ways to control them.
Asbestos Awareness Certified
We are trained and certified to identify asbestos to avoid disturbing/working with it.

We are trained in manual handling.

We only use professional, label compliant chemicals that we have been trained to use safely.
We follow the guidelines for each product and carry the relevant SDS (safety data sheets)
