Sign Cleaning
We’re on a mission to clean up Chester’s road signs!
It all started during the first Covid 19 Lockdown in April 2020, when we were fortunate enough to continue working. Whilst the roads were quiet we stopped to clean a grubby road sign that we pass every day and had been bugging us for some time.
We quickly realised just how many dirty, barely readable road signs were dotted around Chester. Having the equipment on board to tackle them, we set about cleaning them up!
The campaign picked up quite a lot of coverage in the local newspapers and on Dee Radio, as we asked local residents to get in touch with us on social media to point out the muckiest signs they could find.
We’ve cleaned a few hundred so far and have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
You can keep up to date with the worst offenders on our social media platforms!
Charity work
As well as raising money for charity, Abbey Window Cleaning often volunteer their time and services to local organisations in and around the City.
We are always happy to help our local charities like ‘Save the Family’. ‘Share’ is very important to us, we have helped with cleaning at their hub on City Road and the new Share Shop on Pepper Street recently. We also ran a donation collection service for them, collecting and dropping off donations from the community (but had to stop when they were inundated with goods)
It is always fun getting the local toddlers at Doddleston Preschool involved in our activities too! They helped us clean their community centre windows and were each given a squeegee to play with and some pocket money as ‘wages’! The children also helped us raise funds for Share by loading our van up with their old toys to sell on for charity.
We regularly offer our services to pop-ups and start-ups, to give a helping hand at the beginning of their ventures. One of our recent collaborations was with ‘Place for the Arts’ giving local artists clean windows, on the high street.
Chester has supported our business for over forty years. We feel it’s only right to give back where we can, through small acts of kindness.
Chester FC Sponsorship
We are delighted to sponsor Chester Football Club.
As well as sponsoring the team, we have been helping the seals with some free cleaning at Deva Stadium. From cleaning their windows, gutters and signage to their fibreglass cladding and even the club’s Rhino, located just outside the ground!
On match days you might notice our perimeter board located at the Hipkiss Stand and will also find an exclusive offer for Chester fans, in our advert featured in every programme ‘The Cestrian’.
We’re very proud of our partnership with the community club that is Chester FC.
Westminster Park Residents Association
Having worked in Westminster Park for over 40 years, we wanted to give back to the area as a thank you for supporting our business. We reached out to the Westminster Park Residents Association to see what we could do to help.
We started by cleaning up the local bottle banks that needed some attention and have taken over the watering of the area’s planters. We now visit every week to top up the reservoirs with 200 litres of purified “Abbey water”. We have lots of elderly customers that take solace in the planters so we’re proud of our new job and it’s satisfying to see the flowers thriving!
Local community group ‘Incredible Edible’ recently built a number of veg beds in the area. Their goal is to transform disused space into abundant sources of vibrant, healthy food.
Building community spirit and re-growing social networks of support are goals we share so we jumped at the opportunity to get involved and help with the watering here too!
Youth training
Over the years we have worked hard with the YMCA youth charity to help with their vision of “breaking down barriers to provide life-changing opportunities”.
We have been offering training and work programmes to underprivileged youths in Chester for decades.
It’s satisfying to help young people get their foot on the ladder (literally in some cases!) to gain confidence, achieve their potential and contribute positively to society.
Easter Colouring competition!
All our customers’ children were welcome to enter our Easter colouring competition in 2022 to win a gift voucher to spend at the Entertainer toy shop!
Every entrant was also given a Cadbury Easter egg too!
You can still download and print out our special Easter picture from the link below. Colour it in however you like and submit it to us by sending via our social media platforms. If you don’t have a printer we can provide a copy when we visit your home.
Next year we’ll be running the same competition where the most unique, fun and colourful picture will be announced as the winner on Easter Monday!
We cover Chester and most neighbouring boroughs including..
Westminster Park, Curzon Park, Doddleston, Rowton, Waverton, Queens Park, Handbridge, Boughton and Saltney
