When we say family business we mean it!
Owner and operator Nic has been in and around the business since his teens and dad Terry founded the company in 1981.
Over the years Nic’s brother, nephew and brother-in-laws have all been a part of the team. His children also have big ideas for when they are old enough to join us!
Nic – Company Director
Nic has been around the window cleaning world his entire life. Growing up in the family business, he started by cleaning the vehicles and collecting payments after school, long before taking up a squeegee himself.
After joining Abbey Window Cleaning full-time and mastering traditional methods over the years, Nic officially took over the business in 2017. He has expanded our services, introduced water-fed pole systems and helped grow the business into what it is today. Nic is passionate about delivering a first-class service and is always looking for ways to raise the bar, from investing in the best equipment to keeping up with industry innovations.
He’s also the sole operator behind Nic’s Gutters, a separate business where he carries out gutter, roof, render and uPVC cleaning, drone surveys and scaffold tower rental.
In 2024, Nic proudly competed in the Window Cleaning World Cup in a bid to break the Guinness World Record for the “World’s Fastest Window Cleaner”, he secured 4th place among some of the best in the business including the legendary ‘Turbo’ Terry Burrows.
Outside of work Nic has a passion for cinema and travel. He’s also a bit of a collector and a kid at heart, he loves re-buying toys from his youth, building Lego and playing video games. Most importantly, he cherishes spending quality time with Alicia and their four children – Going on adventures, exploring the outdoors and enjoying fun-filled days out together.
Nathan – Team Leader
Nathan is our Team Leader and a key part of the day-to-day running of our operations. Known for his precision, consistency and calm leadership style, Nathan brings structure and a strong work ethic to the team and always leads by example.
He first joined the business in 2021 and has gained experience across every aspect of what we do. Whether he’s using our water-fed pole systems (his preferred method) or jumping in with a squeegee, Nathan takes pride in delivering top-quality results and a smooth experience for customers. He helped train Jack when he joined and enjoys supporting our team grow into their roles.
Nathan enjoys the routine and rhythm of the role as well as the satisfaction of a job well done. Always looking to develop he has attended multiple window cleaning conventions with Nic to learn more about the industry and explore new ideas.
Nathan is also our Mental Health First Aider, a role that reflects his steady and supportive nature on and off the job.
Outside of work, Nathan enjoys the gym, Everton, running, watching films and a fan of a good podcast. When he’s not working you’ll find him spending quality time with his fiancée Eve and their dog Winnie.
Jack – Window Cleaning Operative
After years of braving the great British weather outdoors as a postman, Jack made the leap from parcels to poles and we’re glad he didn’t accidentally deliver himself to the wrong company! Recommended by his good friend (and fellow team member) Nathan, Jack joined Abbey Window Cleaning and immediately fit right in. He even turned up on his first day – which, around here, is half the battle.
Despite no previous experience Jack picked things up quickly and made a strong start.
Whether working solo or as part of the team, Jack brings years of customer service experience and a genuinely upbeat attitude to the job. He’s friendly, reliable, and always keen to leave windows gleaming.
Outside of work, Jack is an Everton supporter and enjoys countryside hikes with his partner Amy, listening to rock ‘n’ roll and unwinding on his PlayStation or watching a film. Big changes are on the horizon as Jack is about to become a proud dad to a baby girl.
Alicia – Business Strategy Advisor
Alicia plays a vital role behind the scenes at Abbey Window Cleaning, bringing a wealth of financial expertise and strategic insight to our team. As Head of Finance and a qualified accountant for a local children’s charity, she combines professional precision with a passion for helping organisations thrive.
While not involved in the day-to-day cleaning operations, Alicia’s experience supporting the growth of numerous cleaning businesses has been instrumental in our own development and expansion. Her sharp, strategic mind and deep understanding of business growth help shape our future plans and keep us moving forward.
From reviewing our accounts to offering honest, thoughtful advice when we need it most, we rely on Alicia every step of the way. Her forward-thinking ideas continually challenge us to improve and grow.
Outside of work, Alicia enjoys a busy and vibrant family life with Nic and their four children. She loves family adventures, going to gigs, discovering new music and is always up for a nice meal or a great cup of coffee.
Alfie – Supporting Window Cleaning Operative
Alfie is Nic’s nephew and Terry’s grandson, proudly making him the first third-generation Milner!
While not a full-time member of the crew, Alfie has stepped in to support the team over the years whenever an extra set of hands (and arms!) is needed. He’s worked across a range of jobs and knows his way around our water-fed pole systems. Alfie always brings great energy, politeness and fun to those he works with.
These days Alfie is focused on training to become a barber but we’re always glad to have him back on-site when he’s free to help out.
Outside of work, he enjoys working out at the gym, listening to music, and spending time with his friends.
Terry – Founder (retired)
Terry founded Abbey Window Cleaning back in 1981 and built the business from the ground up using traditional window cleaning methods.
Over the decades, Terry became a familiar face to customers across the area and was known for his reliability and work ethic. His hard work and commitment laid the foundation for what Abbey Window Cleaning has become today.
Although Terry is now fully retired from the business, we’re proud to keep him on our site to honour his legacy. The company may have grown and modernised under Nic’s leadership, but it all began with Terry’s vision and work ethic.
In retirement, Terry enjoys travelling around the country to support his beloved Arsenal, spending time with wife Lesley and making memories with his grandchildren.
